Front Porch Appeal, Issue #026-Porch Time in the Summer
July 23, 2011

Welcome to our Porch Loving Friends,

Is it hot where you live? Sure is here. But a shaded porch is an awesome place to while away some hours in the summer. In this issue we share with you:

  • A beautiful porch picture
  • Instructions for making outdoor curtains from painters cloths
  • The meaning of decorative stars
  • The best lemonade recipe we know

Ahhhh! What a Fine Porch

We recently returned from a trip through Virginia and stopped by Abingdon VA. This small historic town in the Blue Ridge Highlands has plenty of heartwarming porches. See our Abingdon pictures.

The Napa Porchfest will take place on historic porches like this beauty!

The Napa Porchfest is coming soon. Sunday July 31 from 2 - 5 pm. It's a winning combination of musicians playing on historic porches in Napa. And costs nothing! If you will be in the Napa area on the 31st, mark your calendars for this wonderful event.

Ever Wondered What Those Stars Mean?

We were asked a great question this week about those decorative stars you often see on country porches and barns. We share with you the meaning of them - to our best knowledge. Maybe you have other ideas about the significance of the stars, too?

The state of Texas is known as "The Lone Star State" and they love to decorate with stars to show their pride.

Cool Off with Some Lemonade on Your Porch

Our friends, Donna and Danny, share this delicious lemonade recipe with us. It's the best we've had and no wonder. It's chock full of fresh lemon slices. As refreshing and lemony as it can be.

Share Your Porch Photos

Would you like to share your porch photos with us? We would enjoy showing them off for you. Just upload your photos here. Tell us a little about each of them. We like to know the details.
