Front Porch Appeal, Issue #013 - Dog Days of Summer
July 28, 2010

Hello to all our porch loving friends,

They are here. The 'dog days of summer'. Porches were built for this weather. Before air conditioning families would gather on porches to catch any hint of a breeze.

Children would play chase in the yard and you could hear the porch chains squeak as folks gently swayed back and forth. Take a moment, grab the family, and head for the porch this summer if for only a moment or two.

Watch the world go by. Don't fret, it'll be there when you get back!

We added a new feature - Front Porch Ideas And More 'On The Road.' See our photo gallery of exquisite Victorian porches like the one above that we took in Cape May, New Jersey. This quaint seaside community is known for it's beautiful Victorian porches. Be sure to watch our short video in which we have a cameo role!

While you are there, be sure to peek at our photos from places like Blowing Rock, North Carolina, Mt. Vernon, Virginia, and Lewes, Delaware. We travel the country looking of porch ideas to share with you. It's a tough job, but we're up to it!

Thinking of building a screened porch this summer or fall? We've added screened porch plans for you to use as drafted or modify them to fit your requirements. It's relatively easy to convert the gazebo porch plan pictured above into a screen porch. We offer tips and modification ideas to make your screen porch a great place for friends and family.

Everyone enjoys new porch decorating ideas like this one courtesy of Crye-Leike Realtors. A simple mirror can have a huge impact on your porch. Please share your porch decorating idea with us; we love to see different ideas from around the country.
