Wonderful front porches in this charming mountain town

Dave and I traveled to Blowing Rock NC on a four-state porch tour.

This small joyful town is a fabulous retreat from everyday life. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle, come to this beautiful town in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.

Our good friend, Anna, who lives in a wonderful craftsman home, traveled with us to Blowing Rock and showed us around the town. As a native North Carolina gal, she knew exactly where to take us.

Dave and I found their shops, inns and front porches to be charming and refreshing. What a wonderful place to be on a summer day - the temperature in this pleasant mountain town was clearly cooler than Winston-Salem.

On a slightly overcast day with cool mountain temperatures, we walked up and down the streets of this lovely town. The main street is very welcoming - the town hall, memorial park, many inviting inns and lots of fun shops.

Dave and I were drawn to the side streets where we enjoyed the residents' homes and welcoming front porches, of course! A great place to get front porch ideas.

I imagined myself living in this little town, so quaint and simple. Seems like it's a place where just about everybody would know your name. And just minutes away you can be on the Blue Ridge Highway enjoying time in the mountains.

The charm and solitude of this town is very alluring. Dave, Anna and I had a grand time touring around.

We especially enjoyed meeting the owner of Azalea Garden Inn. I did not see inside the rooms of the Inn, but the ambiance and relaxing nature of the beautiful grounds were enough to convince me it's a great choice.

I am so happy to have visited this fantastic small town in North Carolina. One thing that really impressed me is how many U.S. flags I saw flying. A very American feeling in the air! Love it.
