Barb's Brick Porch TransformationShe loved her house, but...
Barb says that her brick porch was nice, but not exactly what she had in mind when they moved into their home. She loved her house, but her front porch design left her wanting something a little different. So she graciously shares her story and pictures of her porch transformation with us here. Barb is the author of the friendly, Southern blog, Grits and Glamour, Before the transformation
The porch columns fit the style of Barb's home but she found that she and her husband didn't spend much time on their porch. The columns gave them that "caged-in" feeling and took up a lot of precious space. Her husband was concerned about removing the porch columns, but Barb wanted a "real porch". With her love of front porches and all things southern, she came up with some fantastic ideas...
Still before So...she used her Paint program and "took out the porch columns". Then she added some white around the front door. Even with her quick sketch, you can see what a difference it made. Removing the porch columns made an amazing change in their brick porch. After the transformation
Her husband caught her vision - which was great - and look what he gave her! Isn't her new porch just great? She even got the red door that she really wanted. What a charming, wonderful Southern "iced tea porch". Makes a porch lover proud.
Barb's new porch combined with her charming front porch decorating ideas really put a new face on her home. Notice the pretty lamp, rocking chair and tablecloth. What a cozy spot to sit and enjoy the newspaper. ![]() I really like Barb's idea to put art on her porch wall. Doesn't it make you feel like you're right at home? ![]() And I like the pillows, fabrics and textures she chose. ![]() Who wouldn't love a porch like this with all the little touches? ![]() Even fresh apples jazz up an evergreen in a pretty urn. Nice idea! ![]() Aaaah, Barb's porch at night. Pretty enchanting if you ask me. ![]() Loads of personality. Loads.
Our special thanks to Barb for sharing her porch pictures and story with us.
