Red Clay Roof

Red Clay Roof

QUESTION: Please advise roof inclination (rise and run) when using red clay tiles, mediteranean type.

THANK YOU

ANSWER: Yiannis, thanks so much for visiting our site. I spent a year not too far from you in Araxos, Greece many years ago. You live in a most beautiful part of the world.

I found this resource that addresses your question plus has a lot of other important information about clay roofs that I think will be of interest to you.

In direct answer to your question and as information only (not for specific construction of your roof), it appears you can have a rise and run as low as 4/12 but in some areas it must be at least a 6/12. The resource I provided will give you more information regarding the inclination.

Here's a link to info on rise and run (inclination).

Hope this is helpful,

Dave
