Fantastic Wraparound Porch

Fantastic Wraparound Porch

QUESTION: I am thinking of building a three sided wrap around porch. Do have any plans or ideas for this type of project?

ANSWER:Ron, that is a great question. Thanks for coming to our site.

A three sided wraparound porch sounds heavenly. Dave and I do not personally build porches, but we have three suggestions for you.

First suggestion: We know of a landscape architect, Brian of Cumberland Landesign, who can take a photograph of your home and create 3-D conceptual drawings of what your home would look like with the 3-sided wraparound porch.

We have seen some of his work and the drawings are really nice! From those drawings, he can provide a layout plan which includes dimensions, materials call-outs, and basic plan details. It may be enough for a do-it-yourselfer, licensed contractor, or home improvement professional to quote and install.

Our front porch design page shows some of Brian's work.

Here is an example where Brian took an existing photo of a home and created a conceptual drawing. He added a gracious Southern-style porch and some attractive landscaping.

We do not earn any commission by referring you to Brian. But we have seen his conceptual drawings and we like them very much.

If you have a picture, magazine clipping or web page that has an example of the type of porch you would like for your home, you could give that to Brian and he could work up a fantastic drawing for you.

Second suggestion: We found a plan for a home with a beautiful 3-sided wraparound porch on FamilyHomePlans.com - Plan #90234 (see first picture above). Looks like you have to purchase the entire house plan, but you could inquire with Family Home Plans to see if they could draw up just the porch plan for you. They do conceptual drawings as well.

Third suggestion: Find a builder for a porch in your area. Family Home Plans has a service for that.

We hope these suggestions are helpful. We would enjoy seeing before and after pictures and might even feature them on our site.

Thank you for writing, Ron.

Warm regards,
Mary
