The inn has three porches (yes, three!) where you can enjoy the amazing vistas. Each guest room at the River Garden Bed and Breakfast has an exterior entrance off a riverside porch. On sunny days you can enjoy a wonderful breakfast on the upper porch. Or alternatively you can enjoy the panoramic view of the mountains on the front porch. Delicious coffee and homemade biscotti awaits you.
Play cards, read a favorite book or just linger around the den with the stonewall fireplace. You'll love the peaceful sounds of the rippling water from the Holston.
The staff at the River Garden want you to enjoy your stay and have as much privacy as you desire. Guests can relax and enjoy the common areas: the porches, living room, dining area and den.
Accommodations
 With only 3 guest rooms, the inn provides you with the personal attention you deserve. Each guest room has an interior door for access to the inn as well as a private outer door which opens onto a porch. The covered porch overlooks the Holston River and it's gentle rapids. Each room is very comfortably furnished with either a king or queen size bed, private bath and individual climate control. The Trailrider is a large, spacious room. It features a queen sleigh feather bed, down duvet and matelasse' bedding. There's also a lovely a sitting area.
The Barter includes a queen-sized four poster feather bed, snuggly duvet, and beautiful furnishings.

Abingdon's Barter Theater has live performances on their main stage or their stage II. Try a two night getaway and a wonderful performance at the Theater.
Creeper Trail Bike Package
One of the most popular cycling destinations in Virginia is the Virginia Creeper Trail. The Virginia Creeper Trail is a 34 mile long former railroad bed which starts in Abingdon, VA and goes thru Damascus, VA to the NC State line near Whitetop. The trail passes through numerous small communities and traverses 47 trestles. This trail is great for all levels; including beginners! The Virginia Creeper Trail will meet your expectations and the scenery will be unforgettable! One of the most popular cycling destinations in Virginia is the Virginia Creeper Trail. The Virginia Creeper Trail is a 34 mile long former railroad bed which starts in Abingdon, VA and goes thru Damascus, VA to the NC State line near Whitetop.
You and your bike rental will be shuttled to the top of Whitetop Mountain to enjoy the gradual 17 mile descent into the charming town of Damascus, where you can choose to be picked up or continue on the slightly more challenging section into Abingdon. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery, have lunch along the way, or stop in the Abingdon Winery for a quick sample.
The River and Ride Package
Enjoy the tranquility of the country and view a variety of wildlife. Take a guided half-day horseback ride into the scenic mountains of Hidden Valley's Wildlife Management Area. Subject to availability and suitable weather conditions.
The Canoeing Package
