Screen Porch Dilemma

by robert

QUESTION: Six years ago, we built a new house with a porch that has GEO deck railings and columns. Unfortunately, our contractor used collars at the end of the railings where the fronts and sides come together. We'd like to screen the porch in, but are having trouble trying to figure out how to do this. Our porch is high from the ground and we need something that would be easy to put on and off especially if the screens become damaged. We don't want to spend a lot of money but we do want it to look nice. Thanks

ANSWER: Here are two relatively inexpensive options that might work for your situation. I would use either option below inside your railings and between your columns.

One: Build screen panels that fit between your columns and go from floor to ceiling. You can either build them yourself or I believe you purchase frames at Home Depot or Lowes (don't know the sizes however). We list several options for screen panels and screen panel assemblies.

Two: Use mosquito curtains. They work really well and can be taken down easily. Here's a link.
