Screened Porch Screening Question
by Cathy
QUESTION: Do you need shades when you have a screened in porch to shade the sun? Solar porch screening is designed to block the heat gain generated by the sun. Although some solar screens may look dark from the outside, you can still see well from the inside looking out. Think of it as similar to looking through sunglasses. It blocks the glare and sometimes the outward visibility is even better than without the solar screen. A couple other things to consider. If your roof extends beyond your porch, it will also provide some additional shade. We have also seen some screen porches with shutters on the outside. However, those would probably prevent you from being able to see through them. We hope this answers your question, Cathy. We have many ideas for screen porches on our site. Have fun with your porch and thank you for visiting our site. My best, Mary |
