Securing Outdoor Wall Art in High Winds

QUESTION: I bought a siding hook that holds my metal wall art above my garage. Problem is that whenever the wind picks up, my art blows off the wall! Any tips?
ANSWER: Thanks, Kara. That is a great question. Depending on the specific outdoor wall art you are displaying I have a couple suggestions. Based on your question, I am assuming the artwork is very exposed to the wind. Perhaps our readers will have other tips to offer you also.
One suggestion is to use another siding hook at the bottom to attach the outdoor wall art in two places if the artwork will allow for it.
My second tip is to use transparent fishing line (20-30 lb test line) to hold the piece in place. I would use two small screws and install them underneath the siding, one on each side of the artwork (preferably just under the artwork and about 1/2 to 2/3 from the top).
Carefully lift the siding in order to install the screws. Leave an 1/8th inch of the screw exposed. Attach the fishing line to one screw, pull it across the outdoor art work, and attach it to the other. No one will see it. Use a fisherman's blood knot to attach the fishing line to the heads of the screws.
Thanks for visiting our website, Kara. Dave
