Stamped Concrete Option

QUESTION about Stamped Concrete Options We have just recently put in a new driveway, porch and sides of the house all in concrete with a red colored stamped concrete edging up the driveway and the porch.

Unfortunately when sealing the concrete, the porch portion ended up with big brown stains. It looks just awful. The contractor is going to fix it and suggested that he will put a stamped concrete porch.

In order to cover the stains, I have chosen a different color? Do you think having a different color stamped porch and walkway from the driveway will make it look ugly?

The driveway is not stained, just sealed. I have chosen summer beige (which has reddish undertones for the new porch). What do you think? I had wanted a nice even flow. Any suggestions?

ANSWER: Yhuela, we think it will look great and will highlight your walkway and porch. Visually, the focus will be on the the front of your home rather than the driveway - which is a good thing.

Now you can have fun landscaping your walkway and porch to complement your new stamped concrete. The color you have chosen should allow for lots of options for both flowers, shrubs, and ground covers.

Think of it like decorating a room. Often times a decorator will use one color in a room and work around it. You can do the same on your porch. Add complementary colors (to your porch floor color)in porch cushions, an outdoor rug, furniture, wall art, etc. We have an informative chart that might help you with selecting colors.

Often times mistakes (like getting stains on your porch) lead to new ideas and in this case we think you'll really enjoy all of the possibilities that hadn't presented themselves before.

We have some pictures of stamped concrete you might want to see also.

Traci from Beneath My Heart also shared with us how she and her husband stained their concrete floor. You will like this, too. It's an excellent tutorial with pictures.

Good luck and send us some before and after photos and we may feature them on our site.

Sincerely,
Dave
