Victorian Furniture on Your Porch

Gives a plush, fancy feeling

Outdoor Victorian furniture is bold and ornate. I remember my sweet Mom once telling me that if she were to do her life again, she would have a Victorian style house. And, of course, a Victorian porch, too.

People in the Victorian era took great care to ensure that their porch furniture complemented their home. It was important for those in the upper class to have only the most beautiful Victorian furnishings. Victorian style houses had porch furniture made of cast iron that had elaborate etchings and designs, the most popular being that of grapes.

Today, most Victorian porches opt for wicker porch furniture. A combination of both wicker and metal on your porch will look great!

What makes furniture Victorian?

Furniture of the Victorian era is intended to be the focal point of the room or area, so it is usually bulky and heavy. Victorian patterns and colors tend to be dark, rich and bold so cushions are often a deep red or blue color. Cushions are highly stuffed and very comfortable. Outdoor UV-resistant Victorian cushions come in a variety of beautiful colors.

Rust-proof cast aluminum or resin are both good choices for Victorian porch furniture. Add a little bench, light sconces beside the front door, a Victorian bird house, a cast iron bistro-style table, and perhaps some plant stands in Victorian design to round out your charming porch.
