Front Porch Appeal: September on the Porch September 03, 2025 |
Hello, porch friends. September has arrived! While our grandkids headed back to school in August, here the summer sun and sticky humidity are still hanging around, though we did have a few days of lovely cooler temperatures. But not to worry — our porches are ready for a little seasonal magic. Maybe yours is starting to show hints of autumn, with pumpkins peeking out among late-blooming flowers or cozy blankets waiting for cooler evenings. Even if it’s still warm enough to sip iced tea, your porch can be a place of peace, wonder, and small moments of everyday joy as summer slowly tiptoes toward fall.
The Heartbeat of HomeIt’s where we sip coffee at sunrise, wave to neighbors, or share stories with family as the day winds down. Porches welcome us to slow down, to breathe, and to notice the little things—a golden sunset, a cool September breeze, the sound of birds settling in for the night. This fall, may your porch be more than a backdrop. May it be a place of warmth, connection, and everyday joy.

Fall Apple Decor for Your PorchThis year, Dave and I are choosing apples as our autumn theme - something we haven't done before. I think our son Dan and his wife Rachel are going a similar route. It will be very fun to see how our respective porches turn out - one small porch and one larger. We love the vibrant colors and classic appeal of autumn. While we don't have any apple trees, I do remember living in a house where apples were plentiful in the fall. We had several trees loaded with apples! I had one of those tools for easily peeling apples and we made bunches of apple sauce. So good with cinnamon. Please enjoy our new post about decorating your porch with an apple theme - it's a fun idea we are excited about.
