Autumn Front Porchby Jennifer of Sacramento, CA![]() Photo courtesy of Jennifer![]() Photo courtesy of Jennifer![]() Photo courtesy of Jennifer![]() Photo courtesy of JenniferI usually decorate my house but this year decided to do the porch also. My daughter helped me. She made my witch's broom out of an old Tiki torch and honeysuckle vines.I made the pumpkins in the wheelbarrow and the pillow. I tried to use as many natural materials from my yard as I could: Grape vines, honeysuckle vines, yarrow, hydrangea, wisteria pods, acorns. The rest was every rusty old thing we could find around the house. Elegant Front Door for the Fallby Peggy Jones of Raleigh, NC![]() Photo courtesy of Peggy![]() Photo courtesy of Peggy![]() Photo courtesy of PeggyWelcome is simply what this front door says to our guests! I love working with this 30 foot vine. I load it up with all of my favorite things and just when I thought I was finished I would sneak in a birds nest, a beehive and even a little witch's hat! This vine is displayed year round and the miniature white lights are kept on a timer so I never have to touch it. For some extra fun I added peacock feathers, willow branches, nandina berries and an assortment of pumpkins. They look like they have been there forever. I will simply exchange these decorations and add more for each season. Mary and Dave: Thank you for entering our Autumn Porch Contest, Peggy. Happy autumn! Mums the Word!by Danielle Hurdle of McDonough, GA![]() Photo courtesy of Danielle![]() Photo courtesy of Danielle![]() Photo courtesy of DanielleGrowing up in South Texas, I never really had the chance to enjoy the rich and colorful wonders of Autumn. Here in Georgia, I really get the opportunity to utilize colors that easily blend in with the nature that surrounds us.I took special care in making sure that I was consistent with sunflowers, and scarecrows throughout my theme. I LOVE fresh flowers each season, so it made sense to add plenty of mums...which actually paired well with my summer snapdragons that are still beautiful and thriving ! Mary and Dave: We're really happy you entered our autumn porch contest, Danielle! Thank you for sharing your fun fall colors on your autumn porch. Welcoming Fall and Guests from Our Back Porchby Tress Duvall of Westminster, MD![]() Photo courtesy of Tress![]() Photo courtesy of Tress![]() Photo courtesy of Tress![]() Photo courtesy of TressLike most country/prim decorators fall is my favorite season....the main reason why I fall for fall is because of the scents... the smell of pumpkin pie, cinnamon, pumpkin pie, apple crisp, pumpkin pie....I use the pumpkin scent all year long in fact. If it comes in lotions or hand soaps I stock up!It is also one of my favorite times to decorate because browns and tans are my favorite colors. They are the color I dress in and decorate in and well, fall brings the most out of both of these favorite colors. Our back porch is where guests frequent to come on in to our warm glowing home... You will find on our back porch that nothing says "Fall" as much as a wagon full of colored leaves and a pumpkin...some burlap... it's actually used all year long in some parts of our house. A clear fat vase full of pumpkins seems to be a wonderful popular accent this year:) I like bringing up an old black wrought iron fence from the basement during the fall to use as a back drop to add some whimsy.... I hope you have enjoyed this autumn tour of our porch and that you were inspired! Mary and Dave: Thank you, Tress, for entering our autumn contest. You have a very warm, welcoming back porch. Thank you for sharing your autumn decorating with all of us!
