A vintage Santa welcomes our visitors. Come visit my blog at Priscillas2000.blogspot.com

Kimberly: A couple of years ago when my husband and I were thinking about building a new home we knew that we wanted a big country porch! In the summer of 2008 our dream came true!

Mary and Dave: And how blessed you are with such a wonderful porch and home! Your porch is perfect for decorating.

Kimberly: We love the "Stamped Concrete" that we used when building our porch! It really completed the look!

We spent many hours enjoying the sunshine, storm watching, bird watching or visiting with family and friends on our front porch!

There is no better way to greet your guest then with a darling front porch!

I have so much fun decorating it for each season! I think that everyone should have a big country porch!

Beth: Going with a star theme for Christmas, I pull together old stars I had around the house.

Painted strips on the large one. Used apple gourds I had painted white and made the sign from an old cabinet door that was already reddish.

The letters are simply white printer paper then I spray over them with clear coat to seal.

Mary and Dave: Thank you, Beth, for sharing your star-themed Christmas decorations and very charming porch. Love your creativity and we wish you a Merry Christmas!

These photos are provided by Gayle of Mountain Moma. We really like how the use of simple winter items can be used to create a unique decorating look.

Awesome outdoor Christmas decorating tips for items you might not otherwise consider. Adding an old pair of skates to the sled add a lot of charm. Adding holiday colors in pillows add warmth to any porch.

Vintage Skis Porch Decoration

By Jill (Cache Valley)

Jill: My daughter Tracy, found these old wooden skis buried deep in her dad's shed.

She salvaged them (lots of Gorilla Glue) and reset the bindings.

Our family owns a small ski area founded by her great-grandfather and she told me that her dog kept growling and she felt like she was being watched as she worked on the skis - thus 'Snow Angel'!

Mary and Dave: Thank you , Jill! What a pretty and creative porch decoration. We are so glad you shared this with us. Please give our regards to your daughter, too.

Simple Christmas Decorating - Makes a Big Statement

I think keeping things simple makes a bigger statement. The little touches, like a small red bow, a pillow, etc. goes a long way.

Fun Holiday Door Decoration

By Cori Smith (Walla Walla WA)

Ice skates make wonderful door decoration
Ice skates make a wonderful door decoration - Photo courtesy of Cori
I found these vintage children's ice skates and knew I wanted to do something with them. I used a wide burlap ribbon as a base. I formed my fresh greenery into a bough shape and wired it together and attached it to the burlap ribbon base.

I added some white boa trim (found at a local craft store) to the top of each skate for a little whimsy.

I attached the skates (tied together) to the base with a decorative wired ribbon and tied it into a bow. I added a fun "Let It Snow" ornament I found at Wal-Mart ($1).

That's it! Easy and fun. You could also brush on a little white glue and add some glitter to some of the greenery if you'd like.

Shelly's Snowy Porch

Mary and Dave: Shelly sent us this photo of her snowy front porch. She said in spite of the heavy snowfalls in her area and the wreaths blowing off the walls, the kissing balls are still hanging in there. They are beauties, too!

That gorgeous blanket of snow is beautiful on her winter porch.

We appreciate Shelly's contribution. She also shared with us how she installed a vinyl bead board ceiling. You will love seeing how she decorates her porch in the summer time, too.

A few pictures of my snowy front porch in the latest snowstorm. The huge pine trees shelter us from a lot of it, but you can see the beautiful view of the park reflected in the windows. My dog, Thunder, didn't want to venture off the porch at all on this snowy morning.
