Front Door Wreaths For Fall

Decorative front door wreaths for autumn are designed to capture your eyes, draw attention to your front door and welcome your friends and neighbors to your porch! Fall wreaths can make an unassuming porch stand out or take a beautifully decorated porch to another level.

Using the striking colors of autumn, fall wreaths may reflect the brilliance of maple leaves turning red, berries on bare branches, or many other outdoor combinations.

Decorative front door wreaths are meant to capture the season and give you many different options. Try vibrant orange and gold mums or hydrangeas and roses for a bold autumn look.

Need something that will transcend the fall and Halloween? Try a gold and orange finish wreath decorated with pumpkins to make your front door festive.

Really want to prep for Halloween? Try one covered in black leaves and highlighted with small pumpkins and black berries- it's gorgeous! We found a beautiful wreath made from a bristling array of fall grasses.

Sorghum millet, flax, blue oat grass, and wheat were intertwined to create a great wreath design.

We found some pretty wreaths like these at Plow & Hearthicon. We're sure you'll enjoy looking at all the front door wreath designs as much as we do - they have some beautiful wreaths that will warm your porch this autumn.

Those were just a few samples of the many wreaths we found at Plow & Hearthicon. You will find many other great fall porch decorating items as well.

Autumn wreaths usually start with several different forms or foundations. You'll find the country look of grapevine while some will use twigs and even foam. Choosing the right base, if creating your own wreath, will give you different decorating options.

Grapevine and twig bases will easily allow you to wind branches and silk leaves, hang ornaments, and attach pine cones without much effort. A foam base will allow you to glue or pin objects easily.

We love autumn a lot! Enjoy our Autumn Decorating page as well as Rebecca's story of how she decorates her porch for autumn.

Wreaths aren't just for the front door! Rose of Sharon displays one on a frame covered with wire - you can hang it anywhere on your porch for a great look.

Make a Front Door Wreath

Our thanks to Living With Lindsay for this great front door wreath project!

Front door wreath

Lindsay created this beautiful fall wreath by placing wired elements into a grapevine wreath. She purchased two wreaths (a 14 inch and an 18 inch), wired them together, and then used floral/greenery stems and a large 'B' (first initial of her last name) from Hobby Lobby.

The 'B' is heavy pressed cardboard painted creamy white. (If your wreath will be exposed to the elements, recommend you use either a plastic or wooden letter).

Wreath Hangers

Wreath hangers make it easy to install and replace your wreath throughout the year. You can find wreath hangers in brass, pewter, and wrought iron. These hangers fit over your door so you don't have to use nails or screws that will either make holes in your door or result in ugly scratches.

In addition, you can find table top wreath holders and standing wreath holders which will give you lots of options for your porch!

Don't forget that you can decorate the hanger or wreath holder as well. Place a bow or other embellishments for added decor and to protect your door as well.
