Front Porch Appeal
Issue #38 September 2012
Porch News and Ideas for Porch LoversSeptember is when many of us wish to nest again. Back from summer vacations, children back to school and a nip in the evening air, we want to settle in again.
Autumn is one of our favorite seasons, too. How about you? We absolutely love the feeling in the air - crisp leaves, pumpkins and corn stalks aplenty and time to think about autumn porch decorations.
Dave and I are currently residing in a small apartment until we can find the home we want, but happily, we have a lovely little porch to enjoy.
We hope that you, too, have a nice outdoor living space to enjoy.

Porch Decorating - Lay Down A Rug!
One of the easiest decorating ideas is to use an outdoor rug on your porch. Nothing quite warms a porch like a colorful rug and your feet will appreciate it, too.
Durable, outdoor rugs repel water and can endure most weather conditions. They come in many different colors, shapes, and patterns so matching your porch cushions or other decor should be easy to do.
Enjoy our gallery of outdoor rugs to see many options.
Screen Porch Fest - Need Your HelpMary and I are soliciting screen porch pictures to share on our site. We are specifically looking for both interior and exterior photos of basic screen porch designs whether they were built on foundations, over patios, or on decks.
These need not be "Martha Stewart" type porch pictures; we would like to see everyday kinds of screened porches.

However, we won't turn down pictures of elaborate custom designed screened porch beauties - everyone loves to dream!
You can email them to us at: info(at)front-porch-ideas-and-more.com and thanks in advance.
Be sure to see our entire screen porch section if you are planning a new porch enclosure this year.
National ExposureNational Exposure could be the name for a new TV show, but fortunately it is not. Rather, Mary and I were featured on the national news last Saturday (video and accompanying article).
They did a segment on "kitchen table" entrepreneurs, folks like us who run businesses from their kitchen tables. It was a fun experience and believe they did a nice job putting it together, albeit only a minute or so in length.
We are in the process of moving and had just relocated to an apartment while we search for a new home with a larger porch when they asked for the interview. Everything is in storage - except our kitchen table from which we are creating this newsletter!
We've received many congratulatory notes from around the country (and even China) and are very grateful for all of our porch loving friends who make our site possible.
We're Writing our Kitchen Table StoryWe are writing an eBook about how we work together as a couple and how we created this informational web site from our kitchen table.
If you'd like to know when our eBook is ready, enter your email address here. We won't use your email for any other purpose.
From The Porch StepsCartwheels and handstands.
Mary and I are residing in an apartment while searching for a new home. Two of the bedrooms are filled with boxes and furniture but it is cozy and we are enjoying not having the responsibility of a home for a short time.
A little girl lives in the apartment complex and every time we see her from our porch she is doing cartwheels and handstands. I thinks she is addicted to them. She cartwheels her way across the parking lot and sidewalks almost effortlessly. Have hardly seen her walk or run - it's always cartwheels or handstands. No worries, no concerns. Just cartwheels or handstands. She's a very happy little girl.
There's a lesson there. Maybe we should all do more cartwheels and handstands. It seems to work for her.
Hugs from the porch steps,
Dave & Mary
