Mary and I wanted to share some of our favorite porch decorating ideas for this time of year.Whether you enjoy a few simple decorative items or like to go all out, we think you'll enjoy seeing how others have decorated for the season and Halloween. The colors are so vivid and delightful.Fall Is Our Favorite SeasonEnjoy Our Painted Leaf Pillow Topper Project![]() Our autumn porch - look at our pillowsWe painted the backs of leaves and then rolled the painted leaves onto painter's drop cloth fabric to make our pillow toppers.![]() The supplies we gathered for this projectPlus you will need some fabric onto which you will be rolling the painted leaves and the paint will transfer to the fabric. We used painter's drop cloth as it is readily available, durable and very affordable. I washed the drop cloth before using it as that really softens it up.You could use a rolling pin or just your hands (with gloves on) if you don't have a brayer like the one above. ![]() Just brush colors onto the backs of leavesWe painted the backs of assorted leaves. Then I placed the painted side down and rolled over the leaves one by one to transfer the paint to the fabric.![]() The finished fabricHere is what the fabric looks like after I painted it and before we covered our pillows with it. We made several swatches like this and then wrapped the fabric around our pillows on the porch.![]() Completed.
