April Showers Bless Your Flowers - Issue #76 April 2016
April - the month for unpredictable weather and the time for planning your spring porch and yard projects.
Mary and I have been "porchunate" to plant some flowers and vegetables already and even enjoy our porch time just a bit.
More importantly, we've been lining up our spring and summer projects and we hope to give you some ideas for your porch and yard.
We are also giving out a free shed plan that you can use to store your mower and tools or turn it into a playhouse for the kids,
a potting shed, or even home office!
Let's start with our selected home plan and then a fantastic porch.
But first, enjoy these springtime pictures of gorgeous wisteria.
Our neighbor, Sandy, shared this photo she took of beautiful wisteria not far from our neighborhood.
Isn't it such beauty?
Have you looked closely at the delicacy and beauty of wisteria flowers?

Front Yard Landscaping Ideas
Thanks to our friends at Lisk Landscape Management, we get to share some inspiring front yard landscaping ideas.
We'll show you several front yards that have been revitalized along with the names and pictures of the plants that were used.
It's frustrating to see beautiful landscaping and not know the names of the plants - so I added them for you!

Porch Construction Time - Free Stuff!!
Because we know you love porches, here are two helpful documents you can download for free.
Use them yourself or send them to a friend.
Use Our Free Tutorial to Help Square Your Porch or Deck Foundation
We created a 14-page guide to help you get your deck or porch foundation square.
One of the most important factors to building a quality foundation is to be sure it is square to your home.
A square foundation makes the rest of the building process so much easier.
Perfect for storage or use as a playhouse for the kids, a potting shed, or other fun structure.
NOTES:
1. Depending on the internet browser you are using, the actual document may not appear on your screen when
you first open it up. Don't panic! Just save it to your computer and open the file - and it shall re-appear!
2. These are actual construction blue print plans. You will need to enlarge it on your screen to see the print or print this plan on either 18x24 or 24x36 (preferred) inch paper. I emailed the document
to our local Staples store. It cost me $7.82 for printing all four pages on 18x24 inch paper.
To save a few dollars, view the plan online first to determine if you actually need the last two pages
which are construction options you may not choose to do.
3. Feel free to send this to friends, etc., who you think may like a free shed plan -
all compliments of Mary and I and Family Home Plans
The wrought-iron gates add a huge boost of interest to these porch steps.
Glorious Dogwoods and Bradford Pears
One reason we love living in the South is the popularity and beauty of dogwood trees in the spring.
Thanks to our neighbor Sandy for sharing this photo with us.
Our friend Sandy also captured this stunning photo of Bradford Pear trees lining this charming fence-lined lane.
May you have warm sunny days this spring where you can enjoy your porch and plant a few beautiful flowers.
