Mount Vernon, VA

There's something humbling about standing on the same soil as George and Martha Washington. Seeing their spacious back porch and overlooking the Potomac is worth the trip. I loved the beautiful grounds - simple loveliness.

We went on Memorial Day. They were open later in the evening and had special activities, music and refreshments. It was kind of magical!

If you plan to visit the Mount Vernon estate more than once per year, you might want to consider an annual membership.
