Joni's Country Farm House
Joni's Autumn Country Front PorchWhat speaks autumn more than this wonderful country yard covered with crimson, orange and yellow leaves? Joni's beautiful country home is truly a nice place to call home.
Brightly colored pumpkins and gourds line Joni's porch steps. Notice the pretty autumn banner, the orange mum and the cornstalks, perfect as outdoor fall decorations.
Wonderful close-up shot of a golden chrysanthemum, pumpkins, gourds and crimson maple leaves, all excellent decorating for autumn ideas.
Autumn Decorating with Quilts and Mums
Joni knows how to melt my heart when she decorates with quilts. I love quilts! How beautiful is this pineapple-pattern quilt with the wagon wheel and drop-dead-gorgeous mums.
Joni tells us that this is an old oak cow stanchion from the old barns on their property when they bought their home. The old ramp is a salvaged piece from their barns, too.
A "stanchion" is a framework of two or more vertical bars, used to keep cattle in a stall.
Joni shared with me that she gets many of her treasures at yard sales, thrift stores and old barns.
For instance, Joni purchased the gorgeous quilt shown here for just $2 at a summer garage sale. Then when she found those mums, she knew they had to go outside on display since the mums matched it so perfectly.
Joni says, "That's how the best decorations come about: They are gathered and just "happen" to go together!
If I had made that quilt, there is no way I'd have felt willing to let it go outside on the porch...but for $2? Sure!"
Decorating for Fall: Joni's Entryway
What an impressive "welcome" you are greeted with on Joni's porch. I really like the "welcome" sign next to the porch light and Joni's autumn banner. Signs made for creative outdoor fall decorating ideas.
Notice how old her home is - over 100 years - and what stories it must tell.
Joni has a knack of taking simple items, like a brown jug, some sunflowers and a wagon wheel and turning them into a marvelous autumn decorating idea.
So this is where those beautiful maple leaves came from - what glory in a maple tree.
Simple Stuff - Coffee Can and Pumpkins
A coffee can and some pumpkins - simple basics that make pretty autumn decorations.
We are very pleased that Joni let us stop by her country farmhouse today. Fantastic decorating for fall - Joni-style!
